BAE Hawk (1:375)

The CARF-Models BAE Hawk, at a 1:375 scale, strikes a perfect balance of elegance and flying ease. It's impressively stable in the air, making flying a real joy.

My favorite move? A low, slow pass with the back speed brake, bright lights, and lots of smoke - it's a show-stopper. Plus, the large wheels and smooth shock absorbers make every landing sleek and effortless. It's easily one of the coolest models I've flown.

The BAE Hawk is probably the best combination of scale & sport jet. It has a light wing load and tall fuselage which feels very stable in the air.

Carf has two version, a small and a large one. I built the large one, but the small one looks and fly similarly.

Turbine: Jets munt 210. (anywhere from 180-210 is good. absolutely no need for more than 210)

Build complexity: Moderate. You can decide how scale you want to build it. I built mine in 3 weeks, flew it as a sport jet, and then spent another 3 weeks for the scale details.

Weight: WET weight (without smoke fluid) 24.8KG.

What to buy?

CG:
Nose gear fully fueled: 1.78KG,
Nose gear with full UAT, empty tank: 1.15KG,

Flight Characteristic

The first thing I noticed on my maiden flight is that it's a really stable airplane. It can fly slow and fast and it just looks very impressive in the air. It lands so gently with these huge wheels and suspension.

What I don't like about it?

Nether the less, It's one of my favorite planes to fly.

Accessories

Centerline tank: Highly recommended. It just make the plane looks much scale.

Pilot / Air break: The pilot and airbreak is about the same weight and compensate for each other. The airbreak isn't slowing the plane dramatically like the F100's or SU-27's air break, and it's also less visible, since it's at the bottom back of the fueslage. You can live without it, however, if you're going to put a pilot and you need some weight in the back to compensate, you might as well install it.

Lights: a must for this plane.

Scale cockpit: it won't be scale without it. Skip it only if you want to make an extra light sport version, of the plane.

Gears

Amazing quality.  The suspension is very smooth and makes the landings super soft. The kit comes with a fiberglass covers for the struts. Some have created 3d printed covers.

I later on painted the wheel hub.
